Want to know where crypto is going? Follow the developers, says Slow Ventures general partner

Slow Ventures general partner Sam Lessin said Monday that the future of the cryptocurrency space in 2022 will largely be determined by where the top developers direct their efforts. "The big theme for the year in crypto, and in a lot of the metaverse stuff, is going to be developer mindshare and tools," Lessin told CNBC. "If you follow developers and where the smartest people are, that's where you're going to get the best experiences," he added. Looking at the development of technology as a whole, Lessin argued that a core theme of the next few years will be the tension between centralized development, largely led by Big Tech players, and the decentralized elements coming out of crypto and Web3. Saying that consumer preferences will largely determine the outcome, Lessin predicted that a hybrid approach would eventually prevail, with centralized systems providing greater safety and stability and decentralized players driving
