Police in the U.K. thought they were raiding a cannabis farm, but instead found an alleged cryptocurrency "mine" that was stealing thousands of pounds (£) of electricity, the West Midlands Police said in a statement.The authorities were told about people visiting the site at different times of the day, lots of visible wiring and ventilation ducts, and a police drone detected a considerable heat source from above — "all classic cannabis factory signs," the police said.But when officers entered the facility, they found a bank of ~100 computer units. When the local power supplier was contacted, the police found that the electric supply had been diverted to power the operation."My understanding is that mining for cryptocurrency is not itself illegal but clearly abstracting electricity from the mains supply to power it is," Sandwell Police Sergeant Jennifer Griffin said.No one was at the site when the authorities arrived, so no arrests were
