Why LCD iPhone X Plus Sales Could Shatter 100 Million Units in a Flash

Why LCD iPhone X Plus Sales Could Shatter 100 Million Units

Various reports have come out all guns blazing and predicted that Apple is likely to ship up to 100 million units of 6.1-inch LCD iPhone X Plus which is all geared up to hit the floor later this year. Though the staggering number may have been a huge thunder for many and even caused sleepless nights for the rivals, I’m yet to find the forecast extraordinary! So, what makes the LCD iPhone 2018 such massive crowd favorites?

Well, several factors augur well for the smartphone. And of them is the ability to offer flagship features at a much less price.

Why LCD iPhone X Plus Sales Could Shatter 100 Million Units

Why Apple May Ship 100 Million Units of 6.1-Inch LCD iPhone X Plus

No one doubts the elegance and superiority of iPhone X, which has been branded as the best product Apple has ever released by many experts. Even hardcore critics have admitted being charmed by the smartphone. But the unexpected low demand after a beautiful holiday season has surprised many—including me. After all, the slashing of production target by a half from a mammoth 40 million units to around 20 million units is unbelievable.

I believe it’s the high price that’s proving to be the wrecker-in-chief. Had the price of the iPhone X variants started from $ 750–$ 800, Apple would have sold out a record number of iPhones. Though iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are available for that price point, nobody wants them as they look completely worn out.

And that brings me to 6-1-inch LCD iPhone! This guy already looks like a rock star and is shaping up pretty well to create history. The smartphone is rumored to flaunt edge-to-edge display and come with the most talked about feature of iPhone X—Face ID. It will feature an aluminum frame and a single lens camera. Despite having such impressive features, the starting price of the smartphone is said to be just $ 699.

A large number of prospective iPhone users had been waiting in the wings to upgrade to a new iPhone. Though many of them went for the upgrade, a huge group of people stayed away as they didn’t want to pay a hefty price for the radically designed smartphone that was yet to go through the grind.

Now that the iPhone X has been widely appreciated and features like Face ID and gesture bar have fully replaced Touch ID and Home button, they are willing to go with the change. Better still, the price of the smartphone doesn’t seem to be too high either.

“According to Kuo’s research note, shipment projections could fluctuate depending on the selling price of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, which Kuo believes will be somewhere between $ 700 and $ 800 in the United States. In his analysis, shipments will be around 105-115 million units when priced at US$ 699, and 95-105 million units when priced at US$ 799.”MacRumors

The analyst expects the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will alone account for around 50 percent of the new iPhone line-up’s shipments. He further says that the sales will remain strong into 2019.

Going by this forecast, I wouldn’t be shocked if the lifetime sales of 2018 iPhones could reach approximately 200-250 million units.

KGI: Apple Could Ship 100 Million Units of New 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, Replacing iPhone 8 and 8 Plus in 2018 Device Line-up

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today shared shipment projections with MacRumors for Apple’s rumored 6.1-inch iPhone that he expects to launch in the second half of 2018.

The device is said to have some iPhone X features such as Face ID, but design compromises will enable Apple to put it at a more affordable price point. They could include an LCD screen instead of an OLED display, an aluminum frame, a single lens camera, and no 3D Touch.

We project shipments under the new product life cycle (4Q18-3Q19) for the 6.1″ LCD iPhone, estimated to be launched in 2H18, will reach around 100mn units.

According to Kuo’s research note, shipment projections could fluctuate depending on the selling price of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, which Kuo believes will be somewhere between $700 and $800 in the United States. In his analysis, shipments will be around 105-115 million units when priced at US$699, and 95-105 million units when priced at US$799.

The price could also depend on “whether Apple ultimately sees the new 6.1-inch LCD model as the successor of iPhone 8 or 8 Plus,” according to Kuo. In a previous note, KGI Securities has said the 6.1-inch iPhone will have a standard non-stacked logic board and rectangular battery pack like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Kuo expects the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone to account for around 50 percent of the new iPhone line-up’s shipments, with sales remaining strong into 2019. On that basis, today’s shipping estimate suggests lifetime sales of 2018 iPhones could reach approximately 200 million units.

The device is expected to be announced around September-October as usual alongside a new 5.8-inch iPhone X and a larger 6.5-inch version dubbed iPhone X Plus.

KGI: Apple estimated to sell 100 million units of new 6.1-inch iPhone, priced as iPhone 8 replacement

KGI continues to double-down on its claims on what the 2018 iPhone lineup will comprise. The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will apparently resemble the iPhone X with a similar full-screen design but at a more accessible price for customers; the analyst expects this new iPhone to be priced to replace iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, as cheap as $ 699.

The LCD 6.1-inch iPhone will use slightly less premium components, such as an aluminium frame instead of stainless steel. Nevertheless, given that it looks like a top-end iPhone in style, KGI believes the lower entry point will make it Apple’s most popular 2018 device and see total sales around 100 million units.
