Google Assistant now understands Indonesian

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

About a month ago, Google announced that 30 more languages would be coming to Google Assistant ”over the next few months.” The languages mentioned there included Hindi, Indonesian, Norwegian, Swedish, among others. Of those, the only one that has arrived thus far is Hindi, but Indonesian is now taking second place.

Language support is pretty confusing in Google-land. Allo is the only Google voice service that already supported Indonesian, but the newly-added Assistant is the most important one since it’s what people will be using from their phones and tablets.

Amazon’s latest patent is a delivery drone that understands when you shout at it

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Amazon has filed a patent for a delivery drone that responds when you call or wave at it. The patent was spotted by GeekWire and the concept drone is designed to recognize human gestures, and then respond accordingly. Gestures the drone would recognize include, for example, waving arms, pointing, the flashing of lights, and speech. The patent was initially filed in July 2016 and published this week. “The human recipient and / or the other humans can communicate with the vehicle using human gestures to aid the vehicle along its path to the delivery location,” the patent states. The patent gives an example of a “shooing” motion, which the…

Google Assistant on Wear OS now understands Spanish and Hindi

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Google Assistant’s language support is, to put it mildly, dumbfounding. The list of languages that you can talk to Assistant in varies between phones, tablets, smartwatches, speakers, Google Home, Allo, TVs, Autos, and every other medium you can find it on. But sooner or later, they start catching up to each other, and now two new languages are making their way to Assistant on Wear OS: Spanish and Hindi.

So if you were previously able to use Assistant on your phone in Spanish – and more recently in Hindi – but were baffled by the fact that your smartwatch, which is set to either of these languages, didn’t get Assistant, then you’re in luck.

Google Assistant now understands Hindi, Actions on Google can be developed in Russian (ru-RU)

Google Assistant’s language support is beyond confusing. I’ve been covering it for over 6 months now and I still don’t understand why a language could work in one version of Assistant but not another. Take Hindi for example. It works in Allo, but not in other instances of Assistant like the main one on your phone. That’s changing though now.

If you have your phone’s language set to English – India, you’ll be able to activate Assistant by tapping and holding on the Home button on any Android 5.0 and above phone (tablets probably won’t work as they only support US English for now).
