Apple Shares ‘Welcome Home’ HomePod Ad Directed by Spike Jonze and Starring FKA Twigs

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Apple this evening uploaded a new “Welcome Home” HomePod video to its YouTube channel, which was directed by well-known filmmaker Spike Jonze.

The four minute spot stars singer and dancer FKA Twigs and is set to a new song from Anderson .Paak called “Til It’s Over.” In the video, FKA Twigs arrives home after a long day and asks HomePod to play something she’d like, which she starts to dance to in a magical realism-style scene.

This is Apple’s first longer-form HomePod ad. The company previously shared a series of short 15-second HomePod videos featuring the word “HomePod” animated in various ways, each set to a different song. Apple plans to feature the four minute “Welcome Home” video online, while a shorter cut will be played on television.

Apple’s HomePod has been available for purchase since early February, and it’s received largely positive reviews when it comes to sound quality, but reactions to Siri have not been quite as favorable. The HomePod can be purchased from Apple’s website for $349.

‘Champion Eleven’ Is an Officially-Licensed Football Management Game Starring Pep Guardiola, Kicking off Soon on the App Store

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Despite Football Manager Touch 2018 [$ 19.99 (HD)] yet again underlining its credentials as undoubtedly the best sports game on iOS this year – I only care about football (or soccer, for any of our incorrect American readers), so bear in mind my view is inherently biased – there have been many other releases that have tried to challenge Sports Interactive’s management throne. Champion Eleven is yet another title that wants to put its own spin on footballing tactics, and what better way to emphasise its tactical prowess than by getting the endorsement of none other than Pep Guardiola. As far as celebrity appearances in games go, having Pep’s name attached to Champion Eleven is particularly neat, and with a promise of fully-fleshed tactics and a luscious 3D engine, I’m hoping Chinese publisher MeoGames have an on-target effort that can bring some elite competition to the genre.

For those of you who have refused to watch The Beautiful Game since Arsenal’s Invincible season in 2003/04 (I envy you immensely), Pep is renowned for creating the ‘tiki-taka’ style of football that has come to define that Barcelona team and really modern attacking football as a whole, and is currently running away with the English Premier League title with Manchester City – with a little help a few billion dollars. His association and appearance in Champion Eleven, as well as the fact the game is officially licensed by FIFPro and so will include the names and appearances of over 60,000 male and female footballers, is a nice touch that will introduce some much-needed immersion to a genre full of statistics and spreadsheets.

Having influence on off-the-pitch matters like the entire training complex also gives Champion Eleven a more holistic perspective of owning a major footballing franchise, and with the 2018 World Cup rapidly approaching, this game has a great chance to capitalise on growing interest in the sport. I may be personally finished with football, but if you’re in more positive spirits, Champion Eleven looks like one to watch in the coming months.

Michael Fassbender is starring in a feature-length sequel to Kung Fury

The retro ’80s mash-up short Kung Fury made the improbable leap from kitschy Kickstarter project to the Cannes Film Festival, and now it will be getting a feature-length sequel starring Prometheus and Steve Jobs star Michael Fassbender. Variety reports that the creator and star of the original Kung Fury, David Sandberg, is also set to appear in the movie as the titular hero. David Hasselhoff, who had a role in the short, is also expected to return.

Kung Fury is an homage to 1980s martial arts films, and features a nonsensical plot fitting of the time. As The Verge explained after the film’s Cannes premiere in 2015: “After being bitten by a cobra and struck by lightning at the same time as his police partner was chopped in half by a…

Apple Lands Comedy TV Series Starring Bridesmaids’ Kristen Wiig

Apple has ordered a 10-episode comedy series starring Kristen Wiig and based on an upcoming short story collection by Curtis Sittenfeld.

The Cupertino tech giant reportedly landed the half-hour comedy series in a “competitive situation with multiple outlets bidding,” according to a Wednesday report by The Hollywood Reporter. The show will, notably, be Apple’s first original scripted comedy series. Reportedly, Wiig will also executive produce the show, which was created by Colleen McGuinness of 30 Rock fame.

The show is based on a book of 10 short stories titled You Think It, I’ll Say It by Curtis Sittenfeld. The stories “upend assumptions about class, relationships and gender roles in a nation that feels both adrift and viscerally divided,” according to the book’s description.

For Wiig, Apple’s show marks her return to the screen after departing NBC’s Saturday Night Live, where she was a regular cast member for seven seasons. Since leaving SNL in 2012, Wiig went on to star in films such as The Martian, Ghostbusters, and Bridesmaids — the latter of which earned Wiig an Oscar nomination for co-writing.

The comedy series is also the third original series to be produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine outfit. Apple had previously landed two other Hello Sunshine-produced shows: true crime series Are You Sleeping starring Octavia Spencer, and an untitled drama about morning talk show hosts starring Jennifer Aniston and Witherspoon herself.

The Wiig-headed series is also the fifth overall original series Apple has landed, a number which also includes an untitled space drama developed by Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore and a reboot of Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi series “Amazing Stories.”

Apple has been ambitious in its push to create its own original TV content, from opening an office location near Hollywood to hiring several former Sony executives to spearhead its venture to create premium series. It has, reportedly, been “inundated” with spec scripts and offers since it started its TV content push.

At this point, it’s unclear how Apple will roll out its original content, but it’s likely that the shows will debut on proprietary platforms such as Apple Music or iTunes.
