There are a number of good reasons people haven’t been that enamored by Allo since Google released it, not least that the company simply has too many messaging apps. One of the biggest issues at launch was the lack of a desktop or web client. How else could we get away with chatting to each other while at work without our boss finding out? That was rectified last month with the introduction of Allo for web, but it still lacked a few features from the app.

It has been scientifically proven that the more you smile the more people like you, but it turns out this this pattern might not necessarily translate all that well in the language of emoji. The Unicode Technical Committee has introduced 67 emoji as "draft candidates" for inclusion in the Unicode 11 standard come the second half of 2018, which may dictate what characters will be seen in "iOS 12" and the follow-up to macOS High Sierra.
