‘Hearthstone’ Gets Marin the Fox, ‘Kobolds & Catacombs’ Pre-Purchase in Latest Update

Kobolds & Catacombs, Hearthstone‘s [Free] upcoming expansion, is one step closer today since the update that just hit has added the pre-purchase bundle and, more importantly, has given every player a free Legendary from the upcoming set, Marin the Fox. The pre-purchase bundle is the same as for previous expansions; you get 50 packs and card back, For the Hoard! in this case, for $ 49.99. The bundle is a good deal and is even better now that Hearthstone ensures you won’t get duplicate Legendaries or too many copies of other cards. The update has also added a unique Hero tray for the Warlock hero Nemsy Necrofizzle as well as animated Nemsy’s Hero Power button. And, of course, there were plenty of fixes, as is always the case.

The most interesting part of the update is, of course, Marin the Fox. This 8 mana 6/6 Neutral Legendary summons an 0/8 Treasure Chest for your opponent, and once you manage to break that chest, you get some sweet treasures. The treasures are the 6/6 Golden Kobold with Taunt and a Battlecry that replaces your hand with Legendary minions, Tolin’s Goblet, which draws a card and fills your hand with copies of it, Zarog’s Crown, which lets you Discover a Legendary minion and summon two copies of it, and Wondrous Wand, which draws 3 cards and reduces their costs to 0. As you can see, these are some cool card that should be fun to play. Enjoy Marin the Fox everyone.

BlizzCon’s ‘Hearthstone’ Goodie Is Legendary Marin the Fox, Arena Surprise Coming Too

If you’re one of those who have either bought the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket or are attending BlizzCon in person, you’ll be happy to know that we are getting a brand new Golden Legendary Hearthstone [Free] card as one of our in-game goodies: Marin the Fox. However, we still don’t know much about this new card; all we have about Marin at this moment is some great looking art, with more details to be unveiled either during the Opening Ceremony or during the Hearthstone‘s What’s Next panel. This dashing gentleman looks like a pirate, although he could easily just be an adventurer instead, a move that would take us away from a Pirate-themed expansion. Still, this is an early taste of what cards to expect from the last expansion of this season. Any ideas about what we’re getting this time around?

In addition to getting Marin the Fox, we’ll also get a “special surprise for the Arena” during the Live Q&A panel. Apparently, during that panel you can become a part of the game’s history by letting the developers know what you think through your applause. I’m curious what this is all about. And, of course, there’s going to be a hopping Hearthstone Tavern with all kinds of events as well as the Inn-vitational, the fun competitive event. Frodan Interview, Marin the Fox, BlizzCon News, and More ‘Hearthstone’ Weekly News in ‘Touchstone’ #116

Welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, our weekly roundup of all things Hearthstone [Free]. Last week was quite a fun one as Blizzard is gearing up for this weekend’s BlizzCon, so there were plenty of interesting stories and expansion hints. You see, by this time next week, we’ll know what the next expansion is, and I’m personally very interested to see the direction the developers are planning on heading. There’s talk of more pirates, but I’m not sure the players would be too happy to see that. In general, this past week was a fun one, partly because the Halloween celebrations have also commenced. Enjoy our roundup, and if you see me at BlizzCon, come and say hi. And, because of BlizzCon, we won’t be posting a roundup next week.

Should Death Knight Cards be Removed from Arena?

Many players have expressed the opinion that Death Knights shouldn’t be in Arena because they can often offer an unfair advantage, but, as this article describes, Blizzard isn’t planning n removing them. The developers said that the cards aren’t really that much more powerful than other powerful cards, so they don’t see the need for removing them at the moment. The response from players was that Death Knight cards are in a class of their own. What do you think about Death Knights in Arena? Read the whole story here.

An Interview With Frodan

Frodan is one of the most popular Hearthstone personalities and definitely one of the more recognizable voices. This entertaining interview goes into Frodan’s path to his current role, how tiring his job can be (e.g. streaming for ten hours straight), and much more. Definitely an interesting read that you should check out. It’s always fun seeing how different the various paths that lead to these kinds of jobs can be.

BlizzCon Inn-vitational Might be Hinting at the Next Expansion

During BlizzCon there’s going to be a really entertaining three-part Inn-vitational, and it looks like the team names might be giving away some details on the next expansion. As we talked about in this story, the names of three of the four teams are clearly references to the last three expansions, which leaves the last one as a possible clue for the upcoming expansion, which will have been announced by that point. What do you think?
