Prices for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ leak: the plus model costs as much as the Note8

Unconfirmed pricing info for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ suggested a price hike. A pamphlet (in Spanish) confirms the prices and even details the new camera features. The Galaxy S9 will cost €850, the S9+ will be €1,000. Ouch. We can’t help but wonder what this means for the Note9 – the current Note8 was €1,000 at launch. Also, the price delta between the non-plus and plus models will increase to €150 (used to be €100 – €800 and €900, respectively). Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact leak out ahead of MWC

Sony Xperia XZ2 image leak

Lots of manufacturers will debut new smartphone hardware at MWC next week, Sony included. But it looks like Sony’s surprise has been ruined thanks to a new leak.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact have been leaked by VentureBeat. The device you see above is the Xperia XZ2, which is the larger of the pair with its 5.7-inch 1920×1080 display. The XZ2 Compact reportedly features a 5-inch 1920×2080 screen.

The bigger XZ2 also includes glass on its front and back with an aluminum frame sandwiched in the middle. There’s a 19-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and 4K HDR video capture and a rear fingerprint reader on the XZ2, stereo speakers on the front, a haptic feedback system that syncs vibrations to the sounds being played, and a Snapdragon 845.

Powering the XZ2 is a 3,180mAh battery that can be recharged over USB-C or using wireless charging. On the software side, Android 8.0 Oreo is preloaded.

Switching over to the smaller Xperia XZ2 Compact, there’s the same Snapdragon 845 processor, 19-megapixel rear camera, rear fingerprint reader, and stereo speakers (but no haptic feedback system). The Xperia XZ2 Compact’s battery is a bit smaller, coming in at 2,870mAh, and it lacks the wireless charging found in the standard XZ2.

Both phones are expected to be announced at MWC next week, with a release happening in March. There are no details on pricing just yet.

The Xperia XZ2 looks to have an improved design compared to other Sony flagships we’ve seen in recent years. It looks to have a tall display like many other new flagships, and while its bezels aren’t the slimmest on the market, they are an improvement over Sony’s previous offerings. After years of using larger bezels with its Omnibalance design, it’s exciting to see Sony switching things up a bit. – Latest videos, reviews, articles, news and posts

Sony Xperia XZ2 image and specs leak ahead of Monday’s unveiling

Sony is changing up its design language as we’ve seen in several leaks. The latest gives us a front and rear view of the Sony Xperia XZ2, the larger counterpart of the XZ2 Compact, which we saw from the side. The XZ2 duo should be among the first to feature Snapdragon 845 and will be Sony’s first to go 18:9. New leak prices the Galaxy S9 at €841, Galaxy S9+ at €997

At the beginning of this week some contradictory pricing information for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+ got leaked. Today Evan Blass, a.k.a. @evleaks, only adds to the confusion with the newly outed images you can see below. So according to this usually reliable source, the S9 will set you back €841, while the S9+ will be priced at €997. The big question here is where these prices are supposedly from – what country or market, specifically. Since they’re in euros you’d expect them to be valid across the Eurozone (or at least in one of the countries in it), but very rarely have… – Latest articles

More Nokia 7 Plus images leak, showing the Black and White colors side by side

The Nokia 7 Plus is no stranger to the rumor mill – we’ve seen renders in black and white, even a stealthy live photo. It’s back for more, this time around both color options stand side by side. Nokia 7 Plus in Black and White (leaked images) The Nokia 7 Plus is likely to be unveiled at the MWC in a few days (along with a couple of other handsets). It will be HMD’s first 18:9 phone and will use Snapdragon 660 chipset, so it won’t quite challenge the Nokia 8 for dominance. Interestingly, it might use Android One, making it even closer to AOSP than HMD’s already pretty stock… – Latest articles
