YouTube vowed to increase security after the attack — but that’s a tough task on tech campuses

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

The problem is that these campuses are generally designed to be fun, welcoming places.

YouTube says that it will improve its security at its worksites after a gunman shot three others and herself — but that’s going to be a tough task on Silicon Valley’s giant, open campuses.

The video company said that Nasim Aghdam, who authorities have identified as the killer, was able to enter the San Bruno campus through its parking garage and then access YouTube’s outside courtyard. She did not enter the actual corporate building.

The company is committing itself to better protect its employees.

“We are revisiting this incident in detail and will be increasing the security we have at all of our offices worldwide to make them more secure not only in the near term, but long-term” YouTube said in a statement late Wednesday.

The company and its parent Google did not respond to requests for details on what security precautions were taken Wednesday to secure their campuses.

The problem, though, is that these campuses are generally designed to be fun, welcoming places more reminiscent of an open college campus than a secured facility. Buildings are spread out and interlopers can wander between them with little notice. Visitors aren’t uncommon, and some are even implicitly welcomed with tourist-friendly photo spots like Facebook’s welcome sign featuring a ‘Like’ button or Google’s Android statuettes.

There’s likely to be a new debate in Silicon Valley about how these campuses are protected — much like we saw a debate over public spaces such as movie theaters after the shooting in Aurora in 2012 and a debate over schools after deadly incidents at Sandy Hook and more recently in Parkland.

Police say that they believe Aghdam parked her car near a neighboring business and then walked over, Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun in tow.

Authorities believe that Aghdam was frustrated by YouTube’s policies, including a recent push toward what she felt were algorithm changes that made it difficult for her to monetize her content on the platform. In one post, she called YouTube a “dictatorship.”

YouTube will increase security at all offices worldwide following shooting

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

In the aftermath of the shooting at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, California yesterday, the company has announced plans to increase security at all of its offices worldwide. This is intended to “make them more secure not only in the near term, but long-term,” YouTube says. The move reflects a growing concern in Silicon Valley that the effects of increasingly toxic and partisan online behavior may translate into violent offline actions.

YouTube’s statement was released through Google’s Twitter account for communications; it’s not clear whether Google itself will be implementing stronger security measures beyond YouTube. The Verge has contacted Google for comment.

The shooter, 39-year-old Nasim Aghdam of San Diego, died yesterday…

KRAVE Jerky Just Set the Standard for Location-Based Advertising with inMarket; Drives a 3.8x Increase in Key KPIs

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Jerky is gaining popularity as a go-to snack among many consumer groups — making up a $ 2.8 billion category with growing sales, according to Nielsen. KRAVE jerky, acquired by the Hershey Company in 2015, has become a favorite of active, health-conscious consumers. The lean, protein-filled snack is not just an example of the perfect snack on the go, but its marketing team just set the standard for how to engage consumers at the most relevant moments in their purchase cycle.

KRAVE partnered with inMarket — the online to offline advertising company that connects brands with consumers at the moment of truth. inMarket’s groundbreaking ad platform connects the entire customer acquisition funnel for brands, creating engagement at the precise moments when shoppers are planning a store visit, entering a store and even when they’re holding a product in their hands.

inMarket does this through a proprietary first party platform, which aggregates and anonymizes location data from millions opted-in consumers. In today’s landscape, inMarket has become a consumer privacy standard-bearer for the advertising industry — encouraging a 100% opt-in structure when most publishers and ad networks rely only on opt-out.

Using inMarket’s full-service platform, KRAVE Jerky deployed a multifaceted online-to-offline ad solution that leveraged inMarket’s unique ability to reach shoppers throughout the entire purchase funnel. The program focused on cross-digital promotion at the awareness stage, and then drove product interaction and sales via mobile during the decision stage while the consumer was inside the store.

Through inMarket’s Preceptivity predictive cross-channel solution, KRAVE Jerky gained the ability to identify when shoppers were “due” for their next store visit and deploy creative across mobile and desktop at the perfect moments when individual shoppers were most receptive. Preceptivity drives huge ROI because it eliminates wasted impressions that occur after a store visit when a shopper is unreceptive.

With consumers warmed up through cross-digital awareness, inMarket then put its huge mobile audience and seven years of experience to work via Moments In-Store. These exclusive mobile ads are delivered to consumers at the exact moment they walk through the door of target retailers. Finally, the campaign delivered Moments In-Hand — high performing, decision-making mobile ad units —  to shoppers who were physically holding KRAVE Jerky. Custom creative reinforced USPs — driving sales without relying on discounts.

The KRAVE Jerky campaign focused on key KPIs including purchase intent lift, brand awareness lift and ad unit CTR. Post-exposure, 15.8% of surveyed shoppers said they were now aware of KRAVE Jerky, resulting in a 72% brand awareness lift. Most importantly, 26.80% of shoppers said they were planning to purchase KRAVE Jerky after being exposed to the ad — a 3.8x lift.

Today’s shopper marketing landscape can be a confusing mix of old-school media and flashy digital solutions. By working with inMarket — am 8-year-old company with a commitment to accuracy and privacy — KRAVE has established itself as a location marketing trendsetter.

Ways To Increase Productivity On Your IPad

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Are you confused by some of the ways that you must work your iPad? Do the double tap, page slides and zoom techniques blow your mind? If so, you may have just found the solution to your problem. Below, you will find some of the best tips and tricks to assist you in using your iPad.

Did you open too many apps? You can access all your open apps by tapping on the home button of your iPad and bar will appear at the bottom of you screen. Tap the app you want to access and repeat this process later to access your other running aps.

Some newer iPads have a mute button instead of a lock orientation one. If you prefer the lock orientation feature, you should go into your settings and tap on the general section. You will be able to choose which function you want to associate with this button. Save your changes when you are done.

Keep your apps organized with the folder feature. The newest version of iOS allows users to create folders. To do this, tap and hold an app’s icon until it starts to move or jiggle. Then, drag the app until it is hovering over another app that you want in the same folder. Now just release. The iPad will automatically create a folder with both app icons inside.

Get a screen protector for your iPad before you begin to use the device. While the screens on the iPads are of very high quality, they can still be damaged relatively easily if they are not protected. The smallest grain of dirt rubbed across the screen with your finger can result in a large scratch.

Performing multiple app updates at the same time can slow down your iPad and make it difficult to get anything done. You can alleviate this by pausing apps and forcing them to update one at a time instead of all at once. Tap the icon of the app that is updating to pause it. When one is finished, you can allow another one to finish updating.

Go to the apps that you usually run easier and quicker. Just double-tap the home button, and you will see them on the bottom of the screen. This can save you time when switching between apps because you don’t have to go back to the home screen and navigate to the app.

If you have some recently purchased apps from the app store you want to hide, it’s quite easy! Open up the App Store and click on the ‘purchased’ tab on the bottom of your screen. It should give you a list of apps and choose the one you wish to hide. Swipe over the app or right over it, and it should now grey out over the ‘installed’ button. A red button will pop up and you will now have the option to hide the app.

Decide whether you want the lock key to lock the orientation of your tablet or mute the sound. Some early models of the iPad will not have this option. You need to have iOS 4.3 or greater. Holding down the “volume down” key allows you to mute the iPad as well.

If you plan to take your iPad into the kitchen, you absolutely must have a screen protector, stylus and standing case. You will accidentally drop goo all over your iPad, and the protector and case will ensure it says off the iPad itself. The stylus keeps sticky fingers off the screen, too.

You may not have realized it, but you can move your application icons anywhere on the screen that you want. To do so, simply hold the icon for one second and when it pops up you can move it where you want. This is also the way to delete an application.

You can use iPad to listen to iTunes. There is a simple solution to accessing all of the songs in your iTunes account without the bother of downloading them again. Just go to iTunes and enable Home Sharing for your iPad. Next, visit the Music application on your device, hit More and then Shared. Then you can listen!

The Spotlight search feature searches everything you have, including the songs on you iPod, apps, events and podcasts. If you want to restrict what it searches, you can go to Settings, then General and then Spotlight Search. Here, you can pick which categories you do want it to search and which you don’t.

Are you looking for the iPad’s guide? Since it did not come with a manual, you will have to get it for yourself. You can do this by going to Apple’s website and downloading the PDF version. Or, if you have the free iBooks app, you can even download it there.

While it may seem like a good idea to place your iPad in a case to protect it, why would you want to hide something that you spent so much money on? It would be best to place a screen protector over it when you want to carry it around instead of concealing it in a nondescript case.

Use an iPad stand to showcase your photos in your home or office. You can easily upload your personal pictures to your iPad and use it as a digital picture frame. There are a variety of stands for you to consider for your iPad. Then, you can select the photos you would like to display through a slide show.

If you are having trouble doing something on your iPad, make sure that you visit one of the many iPad support forums on the internet. There are dozens of iPad users on the internet that are more than happy to help new iPad owners with any problems that they have. Best of all, any help that you receive from online iPad support forums will be free.

You should now feel more comfortable and confident operating your iPad. Each of the preceding tips will help you in one way or another when it comes to the use of your iPad. Soon, it will come as second nature and you will be able to maneuver through your iPad without second thought.
