Samsung Galaxy C7 (2017) is now WiFi certified

After receiving Bluetooth certification from the Bluetooth SIG last month, the Samsung SM-C7100 – which is expected to be the 2017 variant of the Galaxy C7 smartphone – has been certified by the WiFi Alliance (WFA) as well. The listing doesn’t reveal any specs of the handset, except that it runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. Given that the phone has started collecting necessary certifications, we expect to hear more on it soon. Source | Via

Samsung Galaxy S8 (international variant) currently going for $600 in US

Last week, we told you about a deal Amazon is offering on the international variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. While that deal is still on (price tags, however, have been increased slightly), you can now get the models for even lower rates. eBay seller never-msrp has the phones listed for $ 600 and $ 690, respectively. For those who aren’t aware, one of the key differences between international and US models is that the former are powered by Exynos 8895 Octa chipset, while the latter pack in Snapdragon 835. There’s currently no information on when the offer ends, so those…

Samsung officially announces Galaxy Note Fan Edition in Korea

Samsung has relaunched the Note7 in Korea under the name Galaxy Note Fan Edition. It is essentially the same device but with some key changes that will make it less. explody. The major difference here really is the battery, which as we know now, was the source of the fire in the original Note7. The Fan Edition has a smaller 3200mAh battery as opposed to the 3500mAh in the Note7. The new battery goes through the same rigorous 8-point battery safety test that Samsung started with the Galaxy S8. Galaxy Note Fan Edition features Bixby and 3200mAh battery, will be released on July 7th in South Korea

Aside from its tendency to catch fire, the Galaxy Note7 was a good phone – so good, in fact, that some decided to keep theirs even after the final recall, using the reasoning that the chances of the phone burning itself and other things away was minimal. Thankfully, those of you who loved your Note7s don’t have to do that anymore – a revised Galaxy Note Fan Edition has been released with the same hardware, as leaks have suggested.

Samsung isn’t honoring its Galaxy S8 $200 trade-in discount for many, leaving customers frustrated

Samsung runs promotions on its phones pretty often. For the Galaxy S8 alone, we’ve already seen quite a few – a free Gear VR / an optional $ 99 bundle for pre-orders, a free “Entertainment Kit,” and currently, a free $ 200 Visa card. However, while customers were recently guaranteed a $ 200 discount on the S8 in exchange for almost any phone in good condition that they sent Samsung’s way as a trade-in, the company is having a hard time delivering on its promises to some.

TWRP adds support for the international LG G6, Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 LTE, and Marshall London

When we last looked at TWRP, the project had added support for a whopping 17 new devices. Granted, most of those were variations of three Samsung devices, but it’s still impressive. Since then, three more devices have been added to the official builds – including the LG G6.

The G6 model in question is ‘H870,’ commonly referred to as the International model. This is a different variant than the US carrier and unlocked versions (H871, H872, US997, etc), so don’t go flashing this on your shiny new G6 you purchased from your carrier.

Samsung’s been making rugged versions of its flagships for a few generations now (since the Galaxy S4 Active), and a new one is on the way. Following a Wi-Fi certification, benchmark listings, and a slip up by Netflix and one by Samsung itself, the Galaxy S8 Active has now been certified by the FCC in the US. As usual, that means piles of technical documentation with detailed measurements that only the properly motivated would sift through. For the rest of us, there’s a drawing of the phone’s back that details the FCC ID placement and gives a glimpse of the S8 Active’s design. Though it…
