The in-display fingerprint senors are clearly going to be one of the trends of 2018. Major players on the mobile scene have yet to adopt it, but at this point, we’re pretty sure it’s a matter of time more than anything else. Xiaomi unveiled the Mi MIX 2S this week, but it did not feature an in-display fingerprint sensor as rumored earlier. Xiaomi smartphone code-named dipper surfaced in benchmarks with Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM and Android 8.0, which is rumored to be Mi 7.  According to the source code, the Mi 7 might not come with a fingerprint sensor, however Xiaomi is testing an in-display fingerprint scanner on dipperold, which could be the Mi 7 Plus. Dipperold’s firmware reveals two fingerprint sensors are sourced from Synaptics and Goodix. The name goodix_fod could be “fingerprint on display”. The source code also classes with the name “Gxzw” with  strings referencing both of the fingerprint scanners mentioned in dipperold’s firmware. The Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus is code-named ursa, which might come with an OLED display with a notch, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and a 4,000 mAh battery. Even though it is not confirmed that the device will be called the Mi 7 Plus, it is confirmed that Xiaomi is testing an in-display fingerprint sensor for its next flagship. Source

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 rumored to include in-display fingerprint sensor

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 hands-on

The Samsung Galaxy S9 made a notable change to its fingerprint reader placement compared to last year’s Galaxy flagships, and now a new report says that the Galaxy Note 9 will make another big fingerprint reader change.

Samsung is “seriously considering” adding an in-display fingerprint sensor to the Galaxy Note 9. That’s according to sources speaking to The Korea Herald, who say that Samsung Display has three or four options for an in-display fingerprint sensor and that both it and Samsung Electronics are “seriously considering one of the solutions.”

Today’s report also says that Samsung is expected to make a final decision this month on whether or not it’ll put an in-display fingerprint sensor into the Note 9.

We’ve heard rumors of Apple, Samsung, and other companies being interested in using an in-display fingerprint sensor on their devices, but so far Vivo is the only company that’s actually launched such a device. An in-display fingerprint sensor is an attractive feature because it helps to give your device a cleaner design and also puts the sensor in a pretty natural place, but we’ll have to wait and see if Samsung is happy enough with the actual implementation of this feature to actually put it in a flagship phone.

Is an in-display fingerprint sensor a feature that you want in your next smartphone?

Huawei’s upcoming Mate flagship said to sport in-display fingerprint scanner

How Complete Beginners are using an ‘Untapped’ Google Network to create Passive Income ON DEMAND

Under the display fingerprint sensors are slowly becoming a thing and we are hearing reports that Samsung might include it in the upcoming Note9. This year we have already seen Vivo X20 Plus UD and X21 UD smartphones with the in-display sensor and it is just a start. Today we are hearing reports that Huawei might be going this route and it is said to sport an under-display fingerprint scanner. Huawei is said to be choosing the Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint solution which might make the new Mate 11 ( or Mate 20) flagship the first smartphone to ship with that particular sensor built-in. The Huawei Mate flagship s scheduled to launch in late Q3 or early Q4 (so September or October). Qualcomm, in order to build its ultrasonic sensor, is said to have partnered with Taiwan-based GIS and China’s O-film Tech, both specializing in offering touchscreen solutions. While it is three-time costlier than the traditional counterparts, but is also 0.44mm thick and works through “up to 800-micron cover glass”, compared to only 200-300 microns of glass thickness for ‘normal’ capacitive scanners. The sensor will also work when your fingers are wet or greasy. Huawei isn’t the only company looking towards under-display fingerprint sensors, others brands are also apparently decided to build …
