Reddit beta for Android is getting a new update with improvements and features like AMOLED night mode toggle in Settings, improved bottom navigation bar, and more. The AMOLED night mode toggle in Settings switches over from the existing dark grey night mode to a pitch black AMOLED-compliant UI. This feature will definitely save battery, given if your device has an OLED display. It can also automatically switch on and off at certain hours. There are few other themes called Pony and Trees, and these have white as the main backdrop. Furthermore, the app also packs a redesigned bottom bar as well as major and minor UI changes and improvements, a new account drawer for switching between accounts faster. Like with most app updates, Reddit for beta also brings bug and crash fixes and improvements. With the new features and improvements, Reddit is shaping up to become a perfect client application, if not better than 3rd-party applications. However, Reddit is currently not accepting new users and applicants for beta testing. So, if you are interested in trying out the app, download the APK from here and side-load it. Via Fone Arena
Back in 2017 Google had teased about a VR display that will have 10x more pixels than any commercially available VR display today. It looks Google is now all set to introduce the next-big-thing in the VR space. The search engine giant at the SID 2018 in May is expected introduce the super high-resolution display. According to a new report, the new Google designed VR display will be a 4.3-inch screen which will have a resolution of 18-megapixels with a pixel density of 1443 PPI which is almost double the pixel density compared to the Virtual Reality panels that are available in the market today. Another impressive aspect of the screen is that it will have 120Hz refresh rate which would allow for a great gaming experience. While it is unknown which manufacturer Google has partnered with for producing the VR, it could very well be either LG or Samsung who was able to produce a 1,200 PPI AMOLED in March 2017. On the other hand, LG who teamed up with Google for Pixel 2 XL could also be a partner considering Google’s plan on investing $ 872 million in LG Display in order to secure OLED supply. Additionally, LG is also working on a VR with dual 3.64″ 1440×1280 … Fone Arena

OPPO also confirmed that it will have a 6.28-inch 19: 9 full-screen AMOLED display with 1.78mm narrow frame and 90% screen-to-body ratio. Every once in a while, you want to make sure that your opinion on a subject is perfectly clear. Pins have long been used for protests, elections, and other favored causes. The idea might not be for everyone, but I’m sure we’re all familiar with the concept, at least. And now a company called BEAM Authentic has released a self-titled product that lets you broadcast anything from a customized message or logo to an endless stream of cat GIFs from a battery-powered AMOLED screen on your chest.
Five months after introducing the OnePlus 5, the crew at OnePlus has revealed an updated version of its flagship smartphone. The OnePlus 5T is now official. Perhaps the biggest draw of the 5T is its display, which is taller than the screen on the OnePlus 5 and also has slimmer bezels. OnePlus has equipped the 5T with a 6.01-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160×1080 and an 18:9 aspect ratio. That larger screen is … [read full article]
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro brings the best that tech giant has to offer with the new Leica dual camera and the new AI engine are front and center. Alongside it comes the Porsche Design edition, which builds on the solid hardware with an even more premium exterior. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a 6″ AMOLED panel with a wider 18:9 ratio. The resolution raises an eyebrow, however. This year’s Pro has FHD+ resolution (that’s 1,080 x 2,160px and 402ppi), last year’s model had QHD (1440 x 2560px, 534ppi). Anyway, the screen hugs the sides of the phone closely – what Huawei calls the…
Gionee is definitely keeping busy lately. Only a few days ago the company unveiled the M7 and M7 Power and a recent TENAA filing suggest a third budget-oriented 18:9 device is on the way as well. Well, now we can bump the count with at least one more handset – the Gionee S11, which recently showed up on the Chinese certification authority’s website as well. It seems Gionee has really taken the ultra-wide aspect ration trend to heart, since the S11 is listed as using a 6.01-inch, 1080 x 2160 pixel AMOLED panel. Likely the very same FullVision one used in the M7. You definitely won’t…
File this under the quirky errors / wishful thinking category. The official android.com site has a list of devices including the Nexus 5X with detailed specs, but with one mistake: it lists it as having an AMOLED display instead of an IPS display.
The error was just brought to our attention by Redditor dbailyn, but it turns out it was spotted by another Redditor sekanatomore than a year ago.
Welcome to the Gen X phone – 10 years after the launch of the phone that redefined what “smartphone” means, we have the iPhone X (pronounced ten). A decade ago, most smartphone owners used keypads but very quickly they wanted to use nothing but a touchscreen. Today Apple reached the inevitable conclusion – the sole hardware button that controlled iOS has been retired. It’s all screen on the front now and it marks more than one first for Apple. The iPhone X uses the company’s first AMOLED display on a phone (after a couple of years of experience with the Apple Watch). The screen panel is…
We learned earlier in the year that Yota’s third generation dual-screen device would be announced around this time, and sure enough, the Yotaphone 3 is now official. The last two phones had a certain charm to them, especially the Yotaphone 2, and the novel E-Ink rear display that sets Yota’s devices apart is unsurprisingly still the main attraction. The most noticeable change is that the phone has followed the general trend and increased in screen size.
