IMDb Touts First-Ever Skill for Amazon Alexa

MMW learned today that IMDb, a leading source for movie, TV and celebrity content, has just announced that it has launched its first voice controlled service with a new Flash Briefing skill for Amazon Alexa.

Upon verbal request, the new IMDb Flash Briefing will help fans with Alexa-enabled devices decide what to watch each evening by providing a list of the top five most popular television shows based on IMDb trending data. Updated daily, entertainment fans can access the “IMDb’s What’s On TV” Alexa Flash Briefing, presented by Paramount Network, seven days a week to “help drive their television viewing decisions for that night.”

The “IMDb’s What’s On TV” Flash Briefing skill for Alexa will share details of each day’s top five trending shows, including airtimes, networks and the IMDb synopsis of the episodes. IMDb uses data from its exclusive TV rankings to determine top trending shows and mini-series based on the actual page views of their tens of millions of US-based monthly unique visitors.

“Continuing our commitment to helping entertainment fans discover new TV shows to watch, IMDb is thrilled to leverage voice activated data for the first time, using our unique trending data to make decision-making simple for audiences on Alexa-enabled devices,” said Rob Grady, IMDb’s Chief Operating Officer.

New Halo Gray Essential Phone now available for pre-order with built-in Amazon Alexa

Essential Phone Halo Gray official

Hot on the heels of the debut of three new Essential Phone colors, Essential has announced a fourth new version of its flagship Android smartphone.

The Essential Phone is getting a new Halo Gray color option. This device features a matte finish on both the titanium frame and the ceramic backside.

Also of note is that this Halo Gray Essential Phone is exclusive to Amazon, and as such, comes with the Amazon Alexa assistant installed. You can use Alexa to get answers to questions, control smart home devices, access Alexa skills, and more.

The Halo Gray Essential Phone is now available for pre-order from Amazon. Pricing is set at $ 449.99, and devices will begin shipping on February 21.

This is another nice-looking variant of the Essential Phone, offering a simply two-tone gray look with a matte finish that should give you some improved grip. If you like the look of this Essential Phone, you can hit up Amazon to pre-order one of your very own.

Cash For Apps: Make money with android app

Just yesterday, Essential announced three new colors for its flagship phone – Ocean Depths, Stellar Gray, and Copper Black. While the colors are appealing, the $ 599 price tag definitely isn’t, especially when the first model has been as low as $ 300. Today, Essential announced another new color, with Alexa built-in.

The new ‘Halo Gray’ color is now available for pre-order, with a shipping date of February 21. Unlike the other colors, it’s an Amazon exclusive, and Essential says it is “the first Essential Phone to come with Alexa built-in.” Presumably, this is similar to the Alexa integration that the Huawei Mate 9 has.
