Telegram v4.4 adds live locations, a new media player, and more

There are two things we’ve come to expect in each Telegram update. First, the developers will add some useful features that improve your chat experience. Second, there will be a cool cartoon illustration of the update with a hipster monopoly man. The latter is obviously present (you’ll have to forgive the iPhone), but what about the features? You can share live locations, listen to tunes more easily, and more. That sounds pretty useful.

Twitter adds a new way to see popular game-specific sports tweets

Twitter’s latest attempt to help users find more relevant and popular tweets across its platform is a new set of lists specific to ongoing sports matches. Now, when scrolling through the home tab of the Twitter mobile, you’ll have the option of seeing a carousel at the top of the screen with current games. Tapping into any one will show you a list of tweets relevant to the game that are algorithmically organized. The new feature, called Happening Now, is available starting today on iOS and Android for users in the US, the company announced today in a tweet.

While it’s certainly a valiant effort on Twitter’s part, the addition of yet another algorithmic curation tool may only add more confusing clutter to the app’s already dizzying…

IFTTT adds support for Remember The Milk, Asana, and WeatherFlow

IFTTT, the popular web-based automation platform, recently added support for three new services. The new additions to the service are Remember The Milk, Asana, and WeatherFlow smart weather stations. I guess that means you can set lightning strikes recorded by your WeatherFlow weather station to trigger Asana tasks for your employees which, upon completion, add a Remember The Milk reminder to follow up on the lightning strike tomorrow. Ah, the future. 

Remember The Milk is a to-do list app, and it’s quite well liked, with over a million downloads on Google Play.

Google adds ‘About’ and ‘Store’ links to top left of homepage

These days, we don’t see the actual ‘Google.com’ as much as we used to, thanks to the search functionality built into the URL bars of pretty much every browser. But after its October 4th event where the Pixel 2, Home Mini, Home Max, and many more were announced, the homepage got two new links added to the top left: About and Store.

The Google homepage was never a very densely-populated page, being about 99% just white to maintain a clean, modern look.
