OnePlus 3/3T Open Beta adds face unlock, Switch app, and more

OnePlus has been in the news for a few bad reasons lately, which to me has further solidified my dichotomous feelings toward the company, but that’s not stopping it from churning software updates. Up today we have the OnePlus 3 and 3T, which are getting bumped to the Open Beta 30 and 21, respectively, with the same changelog for both.

  • Added face unlock function
  • Added OnePlus Switch application for backup & restore
  • Supported Airtel VoLTE in India
  • General bug fixes and stability improvements

Upgraded OnePlus Launcher to V2.3
  • New application drawer design
  • Auto-naming folder
  • Dynamic icon function for desktop clock icon

As promised, the face unlock feature that first launched with the 5T and then came to the 5 is now available in the 3/3T’s beta.

New OnePlus 3/3T OxygenOS beta build brings Face Unlock

Shortly after OnePlus confirmed the OnePlus 3/3T will be getting Face Unlock support, a new OxygenOS beta build has been made available for the devices, and it contains exactly that. The update arrives as Open Beta 30 for the OnePlus 3 and 21 for the OnePlus 3T. In addition to Face Unlock, the update also includes for Airtel VoLTE in India, OnePlus Switch application for backup & restore, and several other changes. OxygenOS 5.0 for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, based on Android 8.0 Oreo, was released last month. As is usually the case for major software releases, there were a few bugs that cropped up. OxygenOS 5.0.1 is now available for the OP3/3T with a few new features and bug fixes, but it’s causing a harmful app warning to appear for some users.

Latest OnePlus 3/3T Open Beta brings aptX/aptX HD support, UI fixes

A new OxygenOS Open Beta update has started hitting the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. Arriving as version 28 and 19, respectively, the update brings a bag full of changes, related to launcher, gallery, contacts, and system. Specifically, the update adds support for aptX/aptX HD as well as includes UI fixes for Quick Settings. Other system-level changes are mostly optimizations related to WiFi and battery.
