Nokia 3310 4G can make an LTE-powered a Wi-Fi hotspot

HMD unveiled its third version of the reborn Nokia 3310 – but this 4G model is an odd duck. It’s LTE connectivity is a boon and it has Wi-Fi, which can be used to create a hotspot to share the data connection with other devices. It’s odd, however, because it runs YunOS, an incompatible fork of Android. Don’t expect to run anything but preloaded apps, though (there’s no mention of Yun’s app store). Probably for the best since it’s working with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of storage, too little for even Android Go. Anyway, the Nokia 3310 4G is a single SIM phone with VoLTE support. It will be…

An LTE version of Nokia’s 3310 may be coming

Back when it launched earlier this year, the Nokia 3310 only worked on 2G networks. Then in September, a new version was released that supported 3G networks, allowing it to work in the US on AT&T and T-Mobile. Now it looks like there will be another new version, this time with LTE support.

According to a TENAA listing surfaced by Phone Radar, a new version of the 3310 has gone through China’s version of the FCC and is shown to support TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA, two of the country’s most popular wireless bands. The 3310 is also said to be running Alibaba’s Yun OS, which isn’t that surprising given that the 3G version runs a different OS than the 2G version, despite them looking identical.

Whether we see an LTE version of the Nokia 3310 in the…

Nokia’s retro 3310 3G is coming to the US for $60 on October 29th

The 3G version of Nokia’s resurrected 3310 was announced in September as theoretically working in the US, unlike the 2G version released earlier this year. But at the time HMD Global, which owns the rights to Nokia phones, didn’t say when (or even if) the 3310 3G would be coming to the US.

Now, we know the answer to both of those questions: the phone is available for preorder starting today at Best Buy for $ 59.99, with the phone set to release on October 29th. If you’re thinking about picking one up, be aware that it should work on AT&T and T-Mobile because both are GSM networks, but it won’t work with Verizon and Sprint’s CDMA ones.
