T-Mobile have achieved another network speed milestone. T-Mobile and Nokia hit download speeds of 1.3Gbps this week using commercial Nokia tech with License Assisted Access (LAA). The testing was done at T-Mo’s lab in Bellevue, Wash. The equipment used in the test included Nokia’s AirScale MicroRRH connected to an AirScale module system. T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray decided to drop a little network news on us before the weekend gets underway. Ray tweeted today that T-Mobile has added low-band LTE to hundreds of cell sites in two weeks’ time. When asked for more info, T-Mobile told me that this expansion includes a mixture of 600MHz and 700MHz coverage. T-Mobile is now pushing software updates to a couple of its flagship Android devices. First up, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is now being updated to version G892USQS1ARB3.
